This is a Ruckers mother-and-child virginal—a 17th-century keyboard instrument with a second, smaller instrument built into it, tuned an octave higher. The “child” could be pulled out to play duets or set on top of the “mother” to add a jangly, buzzing color to the main sound—a Renaissance-era layering trick, centuries before mixing desks. Antwerp instrument makers were doing this in the 1600s.

One of my pet peeves about #ttrpg fandom is when people say:
"This RPG product is too expensive!"
No. The RPG industry has tiny, tiny margins, and only a minuscule portion of RPG authors are able to make a living from this - and only barely so, at that. In that context, I find the notion that they are somehow "price-gouging" to be borderline offensive.
Saying:
"I cannot afford this!"
or
"I cannot justify the expense!"
is entirely fine, however - what an RPG product is really worth to a reader is very subjective, after all.
@juergen_hubert like videya games I compare the cost to a ticket to the cinema - say £10 for 90 minutes then if you get 6 hours of enjoyment (or in our wildest dreams play time) out of a £40 book then you've already got the same value for money - any more time then it's even better!

Yup, what Brett said 👍️
Third party apps may have it but the official app and web interface don't yet.
@FediTips @Brett_E_Carlock Thanks. I do like the 'yet'.
@TheBreadmonkey Oh the poor bat!
@neil I'd see if your emails are adversely affected by the reputation of the TLD. That would be my main concern.
But, as someone who has a variety of esoteric domains, it can be annoying to have to say "em oh be eye. No there's no dotcom at the end. Yes I know it looks strange. No not dot coh dot you kay either. Yes, that will get there."
It's a pity .legal isn't as regulated as .bank or some of the other professional TLDs.

Reconstruction in Ukraine cannot wait for the conflict to end - it's already happening. At the #Ukraine #Recovery Lab sponsored by Erste Foundation at the European Forum Alpbach, I highlighted why a #HumanRights-based approach is essential to honour human dignity throughout recovery and reconstruction. #EFA2026 1/3
@nileane 😯

@neil @revk Yeah, they probably would (maybe eventually, after some kind of fight)
They couldn't change for an individual domain at the root level, but routing .uk to NS's that they control would allow them to then target more specifically.
TBH, though, I sorta expect a Trump admin would have Google/Cloudflare/etc do things on their recursors instead. Not total coverage, but more than good enough to be disruptive/threatening

@steveperry @fatsam Given that the authoritarian right are *always* about projection—every accusation is a confession, etc—and the Christian Dominionists are on the far right, it follows that their feverish vision of the hosts of hell is simply what they themselves secretly want to get up to. But that excessively joyless debauchery and tormenting your enemies forever shtick feels a bit peurile to me.
Look, I know my enemies are not stupid: the people who work for the billionaires aren't. I've been one of them, though not in explicitly ideological work, and have known more billionaires directly than most as a result.
The billionaires themselves are a slightly above average bunch.
The working conservatives are, by and large, dumb as rocks.
Puerile doesn't begin to describe it.
But those people are cannon fodder.
Dr. Rita Charon on narrative #medicine: "The idea of being a close reader — looking at every word, seeing how many different meanings you can get from a sentence, & examining the nuances — was exciting to me. So I started trying to use that same rigor in listening to my patients. Rather than starting with, “I see you’re 47 years old & you haven’t had a mammogram,” it became, “Please tell me what you think I should know about your situation in order to treat you.”
